grentperez releases ‘sailing’

grentperez sets off on "sailing," a breezy pop single produced by Gladius and co-written with James Wong and Eli Teplin. Part of his 2026 EP "g00se," it leans into the warm, easy-going charm that's made the Western Sydney singer-songwriter a global favourite.

"sailing" is the second drop in grentperez's monthly single rollout, following "boy that's loving you." Out now via Fast Friends.

"Sailing was a song originally started back in 2021 (unfinished) and has always sat in a special place in my heart. I'd always wanted to release it but — I'm not too sure what happened actually. I wrote this song loosely based on the Ice King from Adventure Time, or characters akin to his behaviour. The Ice King's yearning for true love is at first sad and intrusive, but we come to learn in later seasons that it derives from his bizarre history, growing into madness because of the crown and because of Betty, the love that once was. It speaks on the topics of love through peeping eyes and a fading relationship… Either way, Ice King becomes a homie. His dive into insanity can also be subtly reflected in the outro key change, this immense wave of emotion and conviction portrayed through the adlibs and tracks. This song has quickly become a favourite among this EP if not my whole discography." — grentperez
